Freeway X Levi Celerio Launch Event

Hey Coffeeholics! Several weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the launching of Freeway's National Artist Fall 2012 Collection Series. It was held at The Row at Greenbelt 5. It was truly a spectacular event as it was the first time that Freeway honors a National Artist in the realm of music.

In the past years, the series featured National Artists Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang Kiukok (Visual Artist), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature), Ramon Valera (Fashion Design), F. Sionil Jose (Literature) and Vicente Manansala (Visual Arts). For Fall 2012 Collection of the National Artist Collector's Series, Freeway features the works of National Artist for Music, Levi Celerio.

While I was there at the event, I learned a lot about our National Artist Levi Celerio. His name and face was  a bit familiar to me just coz I remember reading the newspapers about his passing. I also remember watching a show where he was featured playing music using only a leaf! So watching and learning how his love and passion for music has deeply affected our culture and society really left me in awe. I didn't know that he left such a huge legacy to us all. His amazing talent as a lyricist is evident due to the 4,000 Filipino folk, Christmas, and love songs that he has written and later on became so much popular that most ended up as movie titles. Who cannot forget memorable love songs such as Saan Ka Man Naroroon?, Kahit Konting Pagtingin, and Sa Ugoy ng Duyan. I also had no idea that the folk songs that I heard since childhood and have taught to my students were penned by him - Ang Pipit, Itik-Itik, Waray-Waray, Ang Pasko ay Sumapit, and Ako ay May Singsing. His songs indeed made an impact to our culture because his songs cherish life, convey nationalistic sentiments, and even utter grand philosophies.

To further enlighten and entertain us with music and the beauty of the song and lyrics composed by Levi Celerio, Miss Pilita Corrales lent her voice to the songs that our National Artist wrote. We all sang, hummed, and swayed to the familiar music as she sang several songs that night.

Giselle Tongi was also there to grace the event as our host.

And of course, I was able to get a closer look at the Freeway x Celerio collection. Each piece of clothing had a Celerio influence on it. Whether it be lyrics of his famous songs or symbols that are associated to our dear National Artist, wearing a Freeway x Celerio collection will definitely be eye-catching and worth also talking about.

The guys have their own Celerio polos as well.

One of my favorites!

Love the details and vintage feel of this one!
Yes, the design of the sleeves are actually LYRICS!

Hey Coffeeholics! Yes this is what I wore last Philippine Fashion Week when I attended the fashion shows by BENCH. I was super happy coz of several things that day. One was that I was happy coz I got to attend the MICHAEL CINCO fashion show in collaboration with BENCH. Also I got to see Allison and Dominique. Yes, I'm an avid fan of AMERICA's NEXT TOP MODEL! :) What about you? Also I was really happy coz I was able to attend RAJO x BENCH fashion show as well! Na sulit ba ang outfit.. ahaha! Also, during this event, I was able to meet Michael Macalos from the blog The Contemporary Boy. He was fun to be with and yes, I'm really grateful for the outfit shots that he took for me. Thanks so much!

Anyway, yes I'm wearing the black mesh SM Parisian shoes again. Its really one of my fave fierce shoes coz its so comfy and not stressful to wear. Haha. Yes, I still sometimes prefer COMFORT over Fashion. But if I can get the best of both worlds.. that will be pure bliss. :)

So Coffeeholics, June is nearly at its end. How was your month so far? Believe it or not, I've been to the clinic several times this month. Basically because of my health and also because I had my Annual Checkup. Ha. I admit I'm no fan of needles, injections, and the long period of waiting for your turn at the clinic. So yeah, I'm happy to report that I was able to overcome my fear of going to have a checkup.Yes, I had this "fear" of finding out the results of the checkup which is why I'm avoiding it. Good news is .. my sugar and cholesterol level is normal. Hahaha. The rest.. >> well I don't want to go into detail. Let's just say that I'm on meds (wah.. mala gintong presyo na meds.. huhu) and maintenance so that I will become better and hopefully slimmer in the near future. YES NAMAN! Haha. Kelangan i-encourage ang sarili.

So what about you dears? Whats' happening so far in your lives? Chika chika tayo! Mwah!

P.S. And just in case if some of you are wondering about my seemingly profound post title DECIPHERING ME is a title of a song by Brooke Fraser. :)

Freeway x Levi Celerio - National Artists Collectors' Series Fall 2012

Hey Coffeeholics! Ever since 2009, Freeway has gone out of their way to reintroduce to the new generation of Filipinos an interest and a love for our very own Philippine Arts and Culture with the collaboration of our country's National Artists. Its awesome that Fashion and Art can come together to stir us all up to love our country and be proud to be a Pinoy. Thanks to Freeway, Fashionalism can now be hip and relevant.

This Fall, Freeway has officially gone galactic with one of the most loved form of art and the universal language of mankind, Music.  Freeway is excited to feature its first National Artist for Music in the Series, Levi Celerio.

Levi Celerio is a composer and song writer.  Famous for being a lyricist, his songs treasure life; express nationalistic sentiments and complete grand philosophies.  He is best recognized as a Guinness Book of World Record holder for being the only person able to make music using just a leaf. Celerio was proclaimed National Artist for Music and Literature in 1997.

Get ready to fall head over heels with Freeway x Levi Celerio National Artist Collectors’ Series Fall 2012!  The stellar collection includes beautiful modern tailored dresses, sublimation print graphic tees, woven tops in chiffons and poplins, sexy printed knit mini dresses and accessories printed with words and lyrics from some of the most famous works of Celerio which includes Sa Ugoy ng Duyan, Saan Ka Man Naroroon, Ikaw ang Mahal Ko, Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw, Ang Pipit and O Maliwanag na Buwan.  Lots of choices for that impressive workwear that lets you stand out or that memorable weekend get-away outfit.  It’s Freeway’s way of honoring Levi Celerio and his rich legacy to Philippine music. Don’t just sing his songs, wear them!  The collection is already available in all Freeway stores. Check out some of the clothes from this collection which I really liked a lot!

IMPALPABLE by Michael Cinco x Bench at Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2012

I've always wanted to watch a fashion show by Michael Cinco. So when I got an invite to watch a fashion show by Michael Cinco during Philippine Fashion Week I was thrilled! This fashion show was a collaboration with BENCH for the launching of IMPALPABLE - a new designer scent by Bench.

Allison looks absolutely gorgeous!
As we entered the event place for the fashion show, we were greeted with scent samples of Impalpable - the latest designer scent by Michael Cinco in collaboration with Bench. I love the scent and makes you feel definitely beautiful and glamorous.

IMPALPABLE by BENCH
I know its around 400+ pesos only!
Anyway, besides the brand new fragrance, the whole setup of the fashion show really stole our attention. I LOVE THE SET. It was ethereal. It was magical. It really set the mood and built the anticipation of the people.

It was like straight out of a magical forest kind of setting plus the music being played was very mystical and ethereal. Definitely it made you really expect that this show was going to be awesome. And of course, Michael Cinco did not fail to deliver! Be enamored and captivated by Michael Cinco's princess-like creations.

Yes that's Dominique Reighard from America's Next Top Model ALL STAR Cast!
I apologize for the low quality photos. I am now using a Nikon digi cam which I think is an old model. I'm still not familiar with it hence most of my long distance shots are fail. :( My photos cannot even fully and eloquently show how beautiful the models and their Michael Cinco gowns were.
Another ANTM All Star Cast - Allison Harvard - image model of Impalpable.
And yes, another fail photo. :( most of my photos after this was blurry. I  couldn't get decent photos of her. huhuhu.

She even perched on the swing right in front of us. Whenever I snap the photo, I miss her face shot by the second. Yes its frustrating. :P So what the heck, why not borrow some photos from other sites - so much more decent than what I have.

Look at the awesome details of this princess-like dress! LOVE LOVE IT!

And of course, the man of the hour, MICHAEL CINCO. Truly it feels as if his creations were made by magic! I got to know his creations at America's next top model. I had always wanted to watch his show but had no opportunity to do so until now. I feel so blessed and privileged!

THANK YOU BENCH and Mr. Laurence Cua for the invite! And hats off to Michael Cinco for making us Filipinos proud again with your wonderful collection.

Don't forget to drop by a BENCH store nearest to you and check out the IMPALPABLE fragrance!
